Dan and his wife Lauren reside in Colorado where all of his products are made and where he oversees all aspects of his operation.

When Dan Morris was about ten years old and living in New Jersey, he began carving Christmas ornaments from pieces of wood he had picked up while exploring the local beaches and forests. As a young man, Dan supported himself as a mechanic, while continuing to teach himself the skills necessary to pursue his interest in woodworking. Many of his creations were placed in galleries and juried shows on the East Coast.

While recuperating from back surgery in 1984, Dan made his first jewelry box from a tree burl he had found in the local woods, cutting and fitting intricate drawers into the natural twists and turns of the wood. Not long after that, he and his wife Lauren moved to Colorado, following their dream to live in the mountains where they could open their own woodworking studio.

Dan is involved in every stage of producing his line of unique wooden boxes. He makes frequent trips into the woods to search for the aged and gnarled logs that he knows will become special pieces. Back at his shop, Dan makes the first design cuts in each piece, and then oversees the many steps required in the finishing process, insisting on quality workmanship throughout. Dan also has a line of woodturned mushrooms, many of which have drawers and secret compartments. And occasionally, Dan will find time to pick up his carving tools and work on a one-of-a-kind wood sculpture.

Dan's work is sold internationally out of specialty shops and catalogs.
